VPC

Also known as: VNet VLAN Virtual Private Cloud

A VPC is logically isolated broadcast domain in a computer network. It provides logical isolation of shared computing resources within a public cloud environment. Creating a VPC usually requires defining a network range or CIDR, subnets within that network range, route tables and network gateways.

VLANs, or Virtual Local Area Networks were the original incarnation of these virtual networks. It is simply a logical grouping of servers that may or may not exist on the same physical switch. The public clouds call their VLAN products different things: AWS and Google have Virtual Private Clouds or VPCs. Azure has VNets.
