Autonomous System

An autonomous system is a routable group of IP prefixes that is typically managed by a single organization of administrative entity. The AS broadcasts a routing policy for this set of IP prefixes to the rest of the internet.

A unique Autonomous System Number (ASN) is allotted to each AS for BGP routing.
